I had an interview with Mrs. Stockman. I asked, “How do make you the games we play?”
She answered, “I talk to other P.E. teachers. I go to workshops. I look in books & websites. Then I asked, “How do you plan these games?” Mrs. Stockman said, “They go along with the unit.” Next I asked, “What made you want to become a P.E. teacher?” She said, “My mom was a P.E. teacher. My favorite subject is P.E. I like to help children.” My last question was, “What collage did you go to?” Mrs. Stockman said, “Colby community collage for my associates, Bethany collage for my bachelors, and Fort Hays State University for my masters.”

General Store

Every trimester we have a General Store, usually they’re on a Friday. We have money we can earn so we can buy things at General Store.

We can earn money by having our agenda’s signed, being respectful, being at school on time and other things.

There are a lot of different things that sell like, cookies, pop, muffins, brownies and other things.

General Store is great!

No Child Left Behind

The main purpose of the test is to hold third grade through fifth grade teachers and students accountable. The tests give the teachers a tool to measure students learning. As a school the students did a very good job on the NCLB tests and they all worked very hard. Most of the students took their time and checked over to make sure the answers are right.

Bathroom Rules

Have you ever noticed our bathrooms are getting miss treated?
Well now you can help by…
*Stopping graffiti
*Not clogging the toilets
* Only using 3 paper towels
*And reporting any miss-behavior

These are some examples of how to keep our bathroom clean.

Did you know that our custodians use 3 different chemicals to clean our bathroom! While I interviewed Mr. Patton I asked him, “What do you suggest to keep our bathrooms clean?” He said “Well, our school is like a second home because you spend a lot of here at school and when you’re at home you don’t want your bathroom dirty and gross so you keep it clean. It’s the same here!”

Kindergartners

Kindergartners ages are 5 or 6 years old. They are reading level b or c books. Most kindergartners are getting along very well. Kindergartners are learning measurement in math. They play on the swings or the slides at recess. What they do in P.E.is obstacle courses. They are about 3 feet tall. They’re learning to make friends in class. I interviewed Mrs. Oleander.

Snow

We had a lot of snow, it was deep it came up to your knees. It was also hard to drive. Plus it was so nice and fluffy it was good for sledding, and making snow figures.

Graffiti

One thing at school that is a problem is graffiti. In the boys and girls bathroom kids have been writing bad words on the walls and stalls. I think it is wrong because not only we big kids see it but the kindergarten. Kids see the bad words and they repeat the words. So I went to Mr. Beam and asked what he thinks of it. He says it’s sad that some students destroy property that is not theirs. Then I asked what is he doing to stop the problem. He is visiting with students to see if they did it, and he is also sending buddies to the restroom so that students will have a friend to make sure they are not drawing on the walls. If we all work together we can stop the graffiti.

Recess

At recess Mr. Carver plays basketball and soccer with 4/5 students.

Kids of all ages should play sports. Out of Mr. Carver’s class more people like basketball than soccer.

At recess some kids suffer from scraped knees, bloody noses, scraped elbows, and headaches. They go inside to our nurse for help.

Bullying

I had an interview with Mrs. Horton on bullying.
In guidance we learn about bullying and what you can do to prevent and avoid it.
Here are some the questions I asked her:

What makes kids want to bully?
The person is mad at another person or he/she is jealous at one another

What does the school do when a bully is reported?
Mrs. Horton or Mr. Beam will talk to you and tell you the consequences if you do it again.

Birthdays

This April there will be 31 birthdays and none of them are teacher birthdays this month. There will be one special day, which is a twin birthday! Two birthdays are in Mr. Carver’s class. Also in Mr. Carver’s class we celebrate birthday parties by singing happy birthday then doing the birthday ‘whoosh’ which is: we clap 3 times the we blow on our hands like they are the candles then we swoosh our hands.

ATTENDANCE

There are 9 students that do not have any tardies or absences out of 300 kids in ROOSEVELT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. The golden clock awards started at the beginning of the year. We think we should start doing it once a week. I intervened Mrs. Seely and Mrs. Horton.

Art

The picture to the right is a picture that a 3rd grader painted for an art project.

The 4-5 kids are working really hard on guitars. A forth grader from Mr. Carver’s classroom says she likes art because she likes to get messy with the paint. A fifth grader from Mr. Wagoner’s room says she likes art because she likes to draw.
